Talia McNaughton

Programme Director

Talia McNaughton joined Tui Tuia | Learning Circle as Programme Director Literacy & Numeracy after leadership roles in New Zealand secondary education. She has extensive experience in leading Professional Learning and Development including in literacy and numeracy strategies, effective pedagogy, culturally responsive and sustaining practice, digital learning, and more recently the NCEA change program and curriculum refresh. Talia’s passion for culturally sustaining teaching and learning led to her enrolling in a doctorate in education in 2021, focusing on the relationships between senior leaders and Māori and Pacific learners.

Talia is developing Tui Tuia’s strategic vision for literacy and numeracy. She will be weaving together academic research and effective practice to design evidence-based professional learning which is responsive, targeted and focused on equity and excellence. She is excited to collaborate with educators to provide student-centered approaches to enrich and accelerate learning.
