Kerry Upson

Facilitator

Kerry is an experienced teacher and professional development facilitator with extensive Literacy knowledge and leadership mentoring, coaching and facilitation experience in Year 1-10 schools.  She is based in Tai Tokerau and Auckland.

Kerry has a post-graduate TESSOL qualification, which includes substantial practical knowledge in the principles of explicit and intentional teaching and the Science of Learning.  She has worked with teachers to implement the use of the Ready to Read Phonics Plus resources and other decodable texts.

As an accredited facilitator, Kerry brings strengths and considerable experience in:

  • Reading and Writing pedagogy and progressional knowledge
  • Oral language and language acquisition
  • Accelerated Learning in Literacy (ALL) and Collaborative Inquiry
  • Development of Local Curriculum and Leadership Across the curriculum

Building relational trust and having a deep respect for school context, prior knowledge and existing strengths, underpin Kerry’s culturally responsive approach as a facilitator and mentor, working with teachers and school leaders.
