Ko Arai te Uru raua ko Niniua nga taniwha kaitiaki o te wahapu o Hokianga whakapau karakia. Tū mai Whiria te Paiaka o teriri, te kawa tapu o Rahiri. Ko Te Ramaroa te maunga, tū te aō, tu te pō. Ko Pakanae te marae, ko Maraeroa te whare. Ko Ngāti Korokoro, Te Pou Ka, Ngāti Wharara nga hapu.
Malo le soifua ma le lagi e mama, fa’afetai mole avanoa. My name is Alosina and I hail from the mighty Hokianga [Pakanae] aswell as the pearl of the Pacific, Samoa [Matautu Uta, Tanugamanono, Iva]. However, I was born and raised in Palmerston North (which means I am a loyal Hurricanes supporter) I can trace my whakapapa back to Kupe who sailed from Raiatea to Aotearoa, so I will find any excuse to be swimming in the moana or doing waka ama.
I have been teaching for over 10 years and I have taught across year levels ranging from Year 4 to Year 10, (but Year7&8’s are my ultimate favourite). I have also taught in a wide range of settings, from Primary Schools to Area Schools, from suburban to rural communities.
I can’t wait to connect, collaborate and contribute to a team that is paddling the waka forward to increase the capability of teachers of Pacific learners to reach the goals of equity and excellence for ākonga in Aotearoa.
