This course is designed to support educators to explore opportunities to introduce, develop and nurture Pasifika languages in their schools.

About the course

Course information

Who will benefit from this course:

Education staff (from both Pasifika and non-Pasifika backgrounds) in secondary, primary and intermediate schools who want to grow Pasifika languages in their school in culturally diverse contexts.

Course structure:

This course is delivered through two full-day face-to-face workshops, five online workshops and in-school support visits.

Participants will also be supported by a digital learning platform for on-going inquiry and reflection.

Cost

At no cost for NZ registered teachers.

Tui Tuia | Learning Circle - Languages covers the following for selected participants:

  • 2 face-to-face workshops (1 Teacher Release Day to cover one of the face-to-face workshops)
  • 1 school visit
  • For teachers flying to the workshop location:

Airfares to and from the workshop location, including shuttle services between the airport and the workshop venue

  • For teachers driving to the workshop location:

Mileage reimbursement (Capped at 200km per day and must exceed 80km each way to qualify)

  • Accommodation, if required:

Teachers flying between islands may be offered "night before" accommodation

Teachers driving more than two hours each way may also be offered "night before" accommodation

  • Catering during workshops

Schools/Teachers are responsible for:

  • 1 Teacher Release Day to cover one of the face-to-face workshops
  • Transport costs to and from the airport in their home city
  • Release time for an hour following the school visit (preferably directly after the visit).
