Fiona Yen

Facilitator

Fiona is an experienced teacher with a passion for languages, she worked as a Chinese language teacher at Christchurch Girls' High School for more than 15 years. She has been fully trained under the new NCEA framework and she is up to date with the New Curriculum.

Fiona always loved finding creative and engaging ways to share the joy of language learning with her students. She has worked to develop close relationships with other Chinese language teachers in her region and she is actively involved with the Canterbury Chinese teacher association. Every year she works with this association to help organise a Chinese language event day to promote the Chinese language in the Canterbury region.

Fiona would like to utilise both her teaching skills and her experience to continue raising the profile and understanding of both the Chinese language and culture in New Zealand.
