This course is designed to support educators in exploring, implementing, and reflecting on effective and innovative ways of teaching Chinese language and culture, with the goal of enhancing student engagement in their classrooms.

Course information

This course is relevant to Chinese language teachers of all levels, especially those seeking cutting-edge strategies to transform their Chinese language classrooms into engaging and immersive learning environments. It is delivered through two full day face-to-face workshops and four online workshops. Participants will also be supported by a digital learning platform for on-going inquiry and reflection.

Workshop 1 (full day face to face)

Teaching Evolution: Refine the teaching approach through reflective teaching practices, adapting to suit students' changing needs

Unlocking Pinyin: Effectively teach Chinese Pinyin, the foundation of pronunciation and phonetic understanding

Character Mastery: Explore innovative techniques for teaching Chinese characters, ensuring learners grasp writing and recognition

Workshop 4 (full day face to face)

Cultural Fusion: Seamlessly weave Chinese culture into language lessons, deepening language comprehension and fostering cross-cultural understanding

Cost

At no cost for NZ registered teachers.

Selected participants will be advised of the location once registrations have closed. Tui Tuia | Learning Circle - Languages will pay for associated travel for teachers who are outside of the city of delivery for face-to-face workshop(s) or provide delivery online where appropriate.

Upon completion of the programme, your school can claim back the cost of two Teacher Release Days.
