Exciting Opportunities for New Zealand Schools

The Korean Education Centre in New Zealand (KEC) is committed to supporting primary, intermediate, and secondary schools across New Zealand in establishing and strengthening Korean language programmes.

Korean Language Class Fund
This year, 34 schools across Aotearoa New Zealand are supported by KEC to offer Korean language classes. Applications for additional funding to support Korean language programmes are now available. Applications and detailed guidelines for 2025 is available on their website.

Korean Culture Programme in NZ Schools
With the growing popularity of Korean culture, KEC offers young Kiwis and schools exciting opportunities to explore and immerse themselves in the unique culture of Korea. Applications are now open and available on this KEC webpage until the end of Term 3, allowing schools to apply for cultural sessions, including Taekwondo, K-pop dance, and traditional cultural activities.

The 99th Test of Proficiency in Korean (Auckland)

The Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) serves as a standardised assessment for non-native speakers of the Korean language. Administered six times annually (in January, April, May, July, October, and November) within Korea, it is also available, albeit less frequently, to individuals studying Korean abroad.

This year, the 99th TOPIK is scheduled to be held on Saturday, 12 April 2025, in Auckland. For further details, please click on this page.  

The next round of TOPIK is planned for Christchurch in October 2025. Please look out for more details about the next round of TOPIK on this section of the KEC webpage, or contact the KEC at nzkoreanedu@gmail.com.
