Hyun-Joo Kim

Quality and Pedagogy Lead

Hyun-Joo Kim is a Senior Facilitator and a Pedagogy Lead for Tui Tuia | Learning Circle’s Languages Team.

With her academic background in languages, linguistics, language teaching and education, Hyun-Joo has been an educator for over 21 years working both nationally and internationally to promote Korean language learning and teaching.

Prior to joining Tui Tuia | Learning Circle, Hyun-Joo has served as a lecturer at Korea University for 12 years developing and delivering Korean language and culture courses of all levels for learners of a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures. Since joining UniServices in 2016, she has been working closely with both primary and secondary teachers of all languages delivering a wide range of programmes and workshops in blended learning format focusing on effective language teaching approaches and strategies based on well researched theories.  

Based in Christchurch, she is an accredited and experienced facilitator designing and delivering a range of different GROW and Strengthening Asia-Pacific Language Teaching programmes. She enjoys sharing and exchanging professional and practical knowledge and experiences with teachers to further develop their language teaching pedagogy for enhanced learning outcomes for their learners.  

Hyun-Joo has a wide variety of professional interests including: blended learning, culturally responsive pedagogy, curriculum design and development, language teaching pedagogy and materials development and evaluation.
