Overview

This online workshop is designed to provide participants with the tools and skills needed to motivate students to produce short sentences, through activities such as descriptions, making hypotheses, guessing answers, talking about themselves and completing information gaps using images and photographs. Participants will gain strategies for using photographs effectively to boost oral skills in the classroom, assigning them clear educational value. They will also learn how to inspire students to bring their own photos and create a scrapbook to facilitate speaking activities.

When: 4.30pm - 5.15pm Wednesday 26 March 2025

Where: Online - Zoom link will be sent to registered participants.

Registrations open on 28 February and close on 25 March 2025.

What we will cover

Participants will be guided through the process of selecting photographs from free websites and creating meaningful tasks tailored to their students' language proficiency levels, ready for use in oral production activities. 

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to: 

  • Select photographs from free websites and filter Creative Commons images.
  • Create simple oral tasks using both physical and digital photos.
  • Learn strategies to foster motivation among students and improve their oral skills while discussing personal topics such as hobbies and personal experiences.
