Overview

In partnership with the Institute of Global Chinese Language Teacher Education at East China Normal University (ECNU), we are offering places for a 16-week online Chinese language course for non-native speakers. This online course is intended for beginners who are interested in establishing new Chinese language programmes at schools all over Aotearoa in the near future.

Cohort 1: 7 Feb - 1 April 2022 (8 weeks)

Cohort 2: 4 May - 27 June 2023 (8 weeks)

Online Classes:

Every Tuesdays & Thursdays

7:00pm - 8:30pm NZDT

Online tutorials (optional, by appointment):

Every Saturday

7:00pm – 8:30pm NZDT

What we will cover

By the end of this course, participants will have developed their foundational Chinese languages skills and teaching practices!

Learning outcomes:

  • Chinese language pedagogy/teaching practices
  • Use of classroom activities to encourage intensive speaking practice
  • Cultivating teaching quality

Structure

This online course consists of:

  • 48 hours of online classes focusing on Chinese phonetics, vocabulary, grammar and Hanzi (Chinese characters)
  • Optional 24 hours of online tutorials for extra practice
