Overview

This workshop creates an exciting opportunity for educators wanting to start a Pacific Studies programme. Across the motu, there are an increasing number of kura wanting to support Pasifika students’ language, culture and identity, while at the same time, inviting non-Pasifika into the space to learn Pacific languages and Pasifika ways. Join us online to gain an understanding of the support we can provide you in navigating your journey towards launching a Pacific Studies course.

Where: Online - Zoom link will be provided to registered participants

What we will cover

This workshop is an introductory session aimed at building awareness and possibilities for a Pacific Studies course in a secondary school.  

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the rationale for a Pacific Studies course
  • Explore potential teaching and learning models
  • Locate some physical and online resources to support facilitating teaching and learning

This workshop will be delivered in English.

Tui Tuia | Learning Circle Languages is funded to provide professional learning for provisionally and fully registered Primary, Intermediate and Secondary teachers throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.
