Overview

This course is designed to support secondary school Provisionally Certified Teachers (PCTs) of languages, and teachers who are new to language teaching.

Course information

Who will benefit from this course:

First and second year secondary school PCT language teachers and teachers who are new to language teaching.

Course Structure:

This course is delivered through one full-day face-to-face workshop, one full day online workshop, four online after school workshops and practice analysis school visits.

Participants will also be supported by a digital learning platform for on-going inquiry and reflection.

First steps as a secondary school language teacher.

Cost

At no cost for NZ registered teachers.

Tui Tuia | Learning Circle - Languages covers the following for selected participants:

• 1 full-day in-person workshop
• 1 full-day online workshop
• 4 after-school online workshops, including the final presentation session at the end of the year
• 1 in-school practice analysis visit by your facilitator with post-class discussion
• 1 digital practice analysis (a digital recording shared with your facilitator) with post-class discussion
• Access to a digital learning platform to support the workshops and course content

Regarding the full-day in-person workshop, Tui Tuia | Learning Circle will arrange travel to the venue. Please note that if flights are required, it will be your and your school’s responsibility to cover any costs to get to your local airport. TTLC will arrange flights and transport to and from the airport to the workshop venue. The workshop will include morning tea and lunch.

Schools/Teachers are responsible for:

  • 1 Teacher Release Day to cover one of the full day workshops.
  • Transport costs to and from the airport in their home city
  • Release time for an hour following the school visit (preferably directly after the visit).
