Join us for an immersive and hands-on workshop celebrating Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year or Spring Festival. This auspicious festival marks the beginning of a new year on the Chinese lunar calendar, with 2024 being the Year of the Dragon.

What we will cover

In this workshop, you will delve deeper into the essence of the Chinese New Year and gain practical ideas to incorporate into your classroom. Explore the fascinating traditions surrounding this festive occasion and enhance your understanding of its significance.

 

Immerse yourself in the art of making Yuanxiao 元宵, the traditional sweet dumplings, and Tanghulu 糖葫芦 (Toffee Hawthorns). These hands-on activities will not only provide you with a culinary experience but also offer insights into the cultural significance of these delectable treats.

 

Further, connect the 2024 Chinese Year of the Dragon with te ao Māori taniwhā water connections. Engage in an interactive ika/fish raranga/weaving session, master the ancient art of Chinese knot making, and unleash your creativity in dragon crafting. These activities are meticulously designed to seamlessly integrate into your classroom setting, providing you with valuable tools to elevate your teaching approach.
