Overview
This fund is to enhance and develop Chinese language programmes within schools. Tui Tuia Languages will provide grants of up to $8,000 (including GST) for schools to develop and support their own classroom teachers in order to build a sustainable Chinese language programme within their school.
About the course
Registrations open on 9 January and close on 28 February 2025.
Please register your interest between 9 January 2025 and 28 February 2025 using the registration link below.
Upon registering your interest, Tui Tuia Learning Circle will provide you with an application form. Completed applications must be submitted by 28 February 2025.
All proposals are welcome and will be selected primarily based on the plan for how the funding will be utilised. Priority will be given to applications that:
- Are from Primary and Intermediate schools
- Focus on language learning pathways and sustainable approaches to language learning
- Come from schools that do not have an existing Chinese language programme or need to reboot their programme
We expect to support up to 20 schools throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. The fund will be paid to schools by the end of Term 1, 2025. The training and support will start at the beginning of Term 2, 2025.
This is a unique opportunity for schools to work closely with language and culture advisers and facilitators from Tui Tuia to further develop Chinese language learning programmes. We are fully committed to supporting school communities to build language learning pathways for students.

Tui Tuia | Learning Circle Languages is funded to provide professional learning for provisionally and fully registered Primary, Intermediate and Secondary teachers throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.
