Overview

This fund is to enhance and develop Chinese language programmes within schools. Tui Tuia Languages will provide grants of up to $8,000 for schools to develop and support their own classroom teachers in order to build a sustainable Chinese language programme within their school.

About the course

Course information

All proposals are welcome and will be selected based mainly on the plan for how funding will be utilised with priority given to applications that:  

  • Are from Primary and Intermediate schools 
  • Focus on language learning pathways and sustainable approaches to language learning  
  • Are from schools which do not have an existing Chinese language programme or need to reboot their programme.

Applications open on 7 February 2024 and close on 22 March 2024.

What we will cover

 

We expect to support up to 20 schools throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. The fund will be paid to schools by the end of Term 1, 2024. The training and support will start at the beginning of Term 2, 2024.

 

This is a unique opportunity for schools to work closely with language and culture advisers and facilitators from Tui Tuia to further develop Chinese language learning programmes.  We are fully committed to supporting school communities to build language learning pathways for students.
