Overview

The Chinese Bridge Spring/Autumn Camp offers New Zealand students a transformative cultural and educational journey in China. Participants spend two days in Beijing or Shanghai and twelve days in Xi'an, immersing themselves in university life on campus. They attend Chinese language courses and cultural lectures, explore famous attractions, and engage in cultural activities, significantly enhancing their understanding of Chinese culture and advancing their Chinese language proficiency.

When:

  • Spring Camp: 12-25 April 2025
  • Autumn Camp: 20 September – 3 October 2025

Where: Beijing or Shanghai and Xi’an

Applications open on 26 July and close on 14 August 2024.

We encourage schools or teachers to register for this programme on behalf of their students.

Eligibility

  • Students must be non-native speakers of Chinese
  • Students must be 14 years old or older to meet the eligibility criteria set by CLEC
  • Students should currently be learning Chinese in schools and have proficiency at HSK Level 1 or higher
What we will cover

The programme offers a unique opportunity for New Zealand students to immerse themselves in university life on campus in China.

Activities:

  • Immersion in university life with two days in Beijing or Shanghai and twelve days in Xi'an
  • Chinese language courses and cultural lectures
  • Exploration of famous attractions and participation in cultural activities

This programme will help students to:

  • Deepen understanding of Chinese culture
  • Advance proficiency in the Chinese language
  • Foster cultural exchange and global awareness

Structure
Cost

CLEC will cover in-China costs, including accommodation, travel, food, activities, and entrance to museums.

Students are responsible for their airfare, travel insurance, visa costs if required, and personal spending.
